THE TRAMWAY FARES
TO THE EDITOR Sir —The Transport Department made a profit of £13,000 last year and yet the Mayor says no' reduction can be made on tram fares. If we get rid of the Citizens' Association majority on the Council I'll wager that a way will be found to give a reduction to tram users.—l am, etc.. Malleus. '
[What the Mayor has said is that, as a result of restoration of services, the bulk of the surplus is likely to disappear this year. The estimate is that the profit of the department for the year will be. reduced to £2BBo.—Ed., O.D.T.]
