STREETS AND FOOTPATHS
TO THE EDITOR Sir,—l notice in the Labour Party circular that the present Council is blamed for a reduction in the amount of top-dressing and re-sealing that was done during the past year. Perhaps there is a good reason for this, and the explanation will prove also why the Labour Government has substantially reduced public works road formation and sealing. The cause which is overlooked by our local' Labour caucus is that we are engaged in a war and that import restrictions have been imposed. How can any Council pave roads and footpaths without the materials?—l am, etc.. May 13. Victory First.
