NATIONAL SAVINGS
THE FLAG COMPETITION LIST OF LEADING TOWNS (Special) WELLINGTON, May 13. On the latest fortnightly returns in connection with the national savings flag competition, Hokitika replaces Ross as the leading town in the Greymouth district, while Thames achieves a similar lead over Whakatane in the Thames district. In the other postal districts the positions remain unchanged. The winning towns in each postal district are determined at fortnightly intervals in accordance with the percentage of national savings depositors to population. The leading towns for each district are as follows (postal district in parentheses) :—Ruawai (Auckland), Seddon (Blenheim), Waiau (Christchurch); Owaka (Dunedin), Teararoa (Gisborne), Hokitika (Greymouth), Rotorua (Hamilton), Edendale (Invercargill), Porangahau (Napier), Murchison (Nelson), Stratford (New Plymouth), Kurow (Oamaru), Pongaroa (Palmerston North), Thames (Thames), Geraldine (Timaru), Waitotara (Wanganui), Featherston (Wellington), Westport (Westport).
