AMERICA READY
WAITING FOR THE WORD ENSURING BRITISH VICTORY "NO MATTER WHAT PRICE" (Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May. 12. The Secretary for the Navy. Colonel Knox, in a speech at the Society of Military Engineers, said: "All America is awaiting the word ' Forward.' We have made our choice to oppose the aggressor with sufficient force either to beat him or scare him off. We cannot half fight the battle. We are committed sufficiently to ensure a British victory at no matter what price." It is officially stated that no aluminium will be available for civilian industries in 1942 as a result of the bomber construction programme, which is to absorb every ounce. The Senate Committee approved the Ship Seizure Bill after the Secretary of State (Mr Cordell Hull) appealed for its swift adoption without amendments.
