ORDER OF ST. JOHN

INVESTITURE CEREMONY An investiture ceremony tinder the auspices of the Commandery in' New Zealand of the Venerable Order of St. Jchn was conducted at the First Church, Invercargill, yesterday by the Knight Commander, Sir Heaton Rhodes. Those taking part were Colonel G. Barclay, Director of Ambulance, Dr A. R. Falconer, the Rev. Principal Dickie, assistant chaplain of, the Order, the Rev. J. L. Thomson, Mr C. S. Falconer, secretary to the Knight Commander, and Mr W. D. Pirrett, who acted as master of ceremonies. The Knight Commander invested Sir Robert Anderson as a Knight of Grace, and Mr John Bell as a Serving Brother of the Order. He also presented service medals of the Order of St. John to District Officer J. Benrose. District Secretary J. F. Kennedy and the Lady Divisional Superintendent. Mrs G. M. Chapman. Prior to the ceremony at the church Colonel Barclay inspected the St. John Ambulance Brigade on the reserve at the monument. All Southland units were represented and the parade afterwards marched to the church, led by the Southland Regimental Band.
