EXPORT PRODUCE

INSURED ON SHIPMENT GENERAL PLAN UNDER CONSIDERATION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 11. The position in regard to war risk insurance on export produce was referred to by the Minister of Marketing, Mr J. G. Barclay, in an interview today. At a meeting of the South Auckland Dairy Association at Hamilton a statement was made, he said, that the Australian Government had accepted the war risk insurance on dairy produce there.

The true position was, Mr Barclay said, that the United Kingdom Government had accepted the war risk insurance in Australia on exactly the same lines as in New Zealand, that was, from the time of the shipment of the produce. Neither in Australia nor in New Zealand was there a war risk insurance on meat or dairy produce prior to shipment. The dairy industry in Australia was itself considering the introduction of a scheme of its own for butter and cheese to cover war risk while the produce was awaiting shipment.

"In this country," the Minister added. " the Government is giving early consideration to a general insurance scheme for all primary products."
