TO THE EDITOR Sir, —In your issue of October 25 your correspondent "J. S." made certain statements regarding the appearance and acts of bands and bandsmen at "Ye Olde English Fayre," staged by the Army Queen Committee. The St. Kilda Municipal Band, which sup plied musical entertainment during the function, did not partake of any liquid refreshment. ■ The members did not receive any invitation to do so, and, even if they had. the invitation would not have been accepted, for the band is composed of 90 per cent, of members under age and the consuming of liquor is strongly 'Jiscouraged by the band's executive Again, at no time during the day were any of the members provided with meals, and we wish to state that the band did not receive, and will not accept, any remuneration for : ts jervices on this or any other occasion during any such appeal.—We are, etc., W.
