GREEN ISLAND BOROUGH

MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING The monthly meeting of the Green Island Borough Council was held last evening, and was attended by the Mayor (Mr G. A. Orange) and Crs T. G. Tomkins. C. R. Freeman, J. Boomer, T. Mason, F. Johns, E. Hopewell. J. Gallery, and T. McAhan. Works Committee. On the recommendation of the Works Committee, it was decided to surface Short street with quarry chips; to form a path on the side of Owen street, and to obtain a report on improvements to the roadway In that street; to form a footpath in York street; to complete paving and concreting of water tables between Prosser and William streets, and to place tappings on Prosser street footpath. Finance On the recommendation of the Finance Committee, a donation of £lO was made to the Army Queen’s fund. Accounts amounting to £3191 7s 4d were passed for payment. - . ■ Engineer’s Report The reports of the engineer-foreman, referring to work done in the borough during the month, water and lighting matters, drainage and reserves, were received. Collection ot Waste The town clerk reported having sent a circular letter to residents of the borough asking for their co-operation In a collection of waste aluminium, brass, bronze, gunmetal, copper, copper wire, foil, lead, and zinc to be held on Saturday. The arrangements made by the town clerk were adopted.
