HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT CARRIED TO FINAL STAGES Sixteen bouts were contested yesterday afternoon In the annual boxing tournament .of the Otago Boys’ High School, but finality was reached only in the bantam, feather and welter-weight classes.. Other classes were taken as far as the semifinals, and the deciding bouts in the school championship and light-weight divisions will be held this afternoon. Interest centred mainly in the championship bouts, which were all keen matches with solid punching. These were of three two-minute rounds, against a minute and a-half for the others, J. JHamilton beat G. F. Swan to earn the right to meet R. G- Lester (who had the bye) in the final of the championship. Following are the results:— School , Championship J J. Hamilton beat C. J. Mowat on points. G. F. Swan beat D. Simpson on points. R. G. Lester beat. H. Thomson on points. Semi-final: Hamilton beat Swan on points. i Welter-weight I, A. Johnston beat R. B. Johnston on points. J. M. Crawford knocked out J. C. Tipler. Semi-final: Crawford beat Johnston on points. Light-weight A. G. Hay beat H. Rawlings on points. A. H. Sime knocked out W. I. Lalng. J. Purdie beat W. A. Penrose ,on points. J. B. Leckie beat W.. B. Butterfield on points. Semi-finals: Sime beat Hay on points. Leckie beat Purdie on points Bantam-weight J. S. Douglas beat R. W. McPherson on points. K. I. Cleveland a bye. Final: Cleveland beat Douglas on points. Feather-weight W. R. Sparrow beat J. D. Guy . on points. ' ■ ■
