Vice-Regal The Governor-Generah Viscount Galway, and Lady Galway concluded their farewell visit to Dunedin with a round of official functions yesterday. In the morning his Excellency met the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council, while her Excellency inspected the rooms of the Lady Galway Guild and w(s the guest at morning tea of the committee. Their Excellencies enjoyed a motor drive around the Otago Peninsula in the afternoon. Early last evening his Excellency visited the Sea Cadets at their rooms, and later inspected a guard of honour mounted by Headquarters Company, 4th Battalion, National Military Reserve, before their Excellencies attended the civic farewell in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. Their Excellencies will leave for the south this morning.

Mr L. H. Frude was a passenger for Wellington by the through express yesterday.

The Rev. L. H. Ker is to be inducted to the Strath-Taieri charge of the Presbyterian Church at Middlemarch to-morrow evening.

Mr D. A; Young will leave by the express this morning to attend a sitting of the Public Service Appeal Board in Wellington.

The Secretary for Labour (Mr H. E. Moston) and Mr M. F. J. Jackson, chief clerk. Department of Labour, arrived from the north yesterday afternoon. The Presbytery of Dunedin has nominated the Rev. John Davie to me General Assembly for the office of Moderator-designate.

Among the appointments that have been made to the staff of the Weiou.u military camp (states a Press Association message from Wellington) are the following: Commandant, Colonel C. G. Powles; senior medical officer, Lieutenant-colonel J. H. G. Robertson. Messrs A. M. Cameron. R. L. Fairmaid, T. C. Ross, and W. H. The Naoier branch of the New Zealand Labour Party has nominated Mr A E. Armstrong as the official candidate for the Napier seat at "he general election. Mr Armstrong, who is .a son of the Minister of Housing (Mr H. T. Armstrong), went to Napier some months ago from Christchurch, and has been attached to the Labour Department as liaison officer. He was formerly a member of the Christchurch City Council. His selection was unanimous. but the nomination has yet to be ratified by the Labour Representation Committee.

Three students—Messrs E. E. Dvason. C. McCaskill. and W. G. Mclntosh—who have completed their course of study for the ministry of the Presbyterian Church, were taken on trials for licence. These were sustained, and it was decided at last night’s meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery to licence them at a service to be held in Knox Church on November 21. The recent marriage of Cr W. J. Sheat was not allowed to pass without recognition by the Bruce County Council, and at yesterday’s meeting of the council he was made the recipient of an electric toaster. The presentation was made bv the chairman (Cr W. Moore), who wished, Cr Sheat a long and happy married life- Cr Sheat suitably acknowledged the gift. Passengers by the north-bound Union Airways plane yesterday were Mr M. Stewart. Mr J Wardle, and Mr H A. Young for Christchurch. Miss L. Norton and Mrs M. Matheson and infant for Wellington. Mr C. L. Calvert, Mrs C. L. Calvert. Mr R- C. Burgess, and Mr M. Myers for New Plymouth, and Mrs E. Cameron for Palmerston North. Passengers by the south-bound plane were Mr H. Higgins, Mrs W. Higgins, and Miss J. Higgins from Wellington, and Mr H. D. Kerr. Mr L. G. Mulqueen. and Major J. Abel from Christchurch.
