PLUNKET SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING HEUD USEFUL YEAR REVIEWED There was a large attendance ai the annual meeting of the Dunedin branch of the Plunkct Society, which was held yesterday afternoon in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall. The Mayor. Mr A. H. Allen, presided. The Year’s Work The Mayor, moving the adoption of the anual report, congratulated tbe society on the completion of another useful year. There was no question of the value of the work being done by the society in the community, he said, as it was recognised not only all over the Dominion, but also further afield. The war emphasised the need for strong bodies, npt only in men but in women too, and he thought the standard of health of young New Zealanders could compare well with that 'of any other country in the world. The only trouble was that there were not more children coming along, as in a young and virile country such as this there should be at least a natural increase. The Mayor pointed out that the assets of the society now amounted to almost ■1 37.000.
