The Sawyers' Bay Institute met on Thursday last, Mrs Begbie presiding The motto was, "A friend may be reckoned the masterpiece of nature,' and the roll call, "A verse or a few lines on friendship." Members exchanged seeds, plants, bulbs and cuttings for a " friendship " garden. Four members tied for first place in a competition "bloom." Mrs Nelson gave an interesting demonstration on the mak ing of soft toys and prepared an in teresting paper on "Friendship." Par eels were handed in for the Lady Galway Guild. It was announced that the monetary collection for a soldier's parcel had been over-subscribed.
