WEDDINGS

[While reports of weddings are appreciated by us, we feel it necessary to intimate that, under present conditions, we cannot see our way to insert reports which do not reach us within 14 days from the date of the wedding.] Arnold—Syder The Cargill Road Methodist Church was beautifully decorated with spring flowers on Wednesday evening when Ephraim Ernest younger son of Mrs Arnold, of Dunedin, and the late Mr Arnold, was married to Sadie Myrtle, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs G R. Syder. cf St. Kilda. The Rev. B M. Tasker was the officiating minister and Miss Gladwys Syder (the bride's eldest sister) presided at the organ The bride looked charming in a gown of ivory slipper satin, the bodice of which featured a ruched heart-shaped inset. Her train was caught in scallops with posies of blue forget-me-nots and her handsome gold locket was the gift of the bridegroom A tulle veil fell from a coronet ot orange blossom, and a crescent bouquet of white roses, camellias and lilv-of-the-valley was carried In attendance was the brides sistei Mrs J C. Leckie (as matron of honour) and Miss Mignon Coomer (as bridesmaid) Both wore picturesque frocks of French blue taffeta featuring high ruched necklines and bodices, short puffed sleeves and full skirts with bustle bows. Their quaint taffeta hats were trimmed with ruching and yellow flowers, and they carried crescent bouquets of daffodils vellow roses and primroses The best man was Mr J Arnold (brother of the bridegroom) and the groomsman. "Love Triumphant." was sung bv Miss Lenore Gibbs After the ceremony a reception ana dance were held in the Crawford Lounge, where the guests were welcomed by Mrs Syder. who wore a black frock embroidered with red and white, and a black coat and hat She carried a bouquet of red tulips and anem ones. Mrs Arnold, who assisted hei wore a black costume and hat. and her bouquet was cf mauve tulips and magnolias. When Mr and Mrs Arnold left for the North Island the former was wearing a smart brown costume and fox fur with hat and accessories to tone. Milne—Barber On the afternoon of September 21 in the Kaka Point Presbyterian Church the wedding was solemnised of Alfred Christie, second son of Mr and Mrs A Milne, of "Tirohanga," Nugget Bay. and Olive May. second daughter of Mr and Mrs F. A. Barber, of Nugget Bay The Rev. F. McDonald, of Romahapa, officiated and Mrs McDonald presided at the organ. The bride looked charming m a frock of cream bridal brocade silk made on simple lines and featuring a peter pan collar, with a sprig of orange blossom at the back waist line. Her veil, which had been lent by a friend, fell from a halo of orange blossom and formed a train. She earned a prettv shower bouquet of arum lilies, narcissi and maidenhair fern. In attendance as bridesmaid was the bride's sister Belle, who wore a frock of green lace over printed taffeta, with shoulder-length veil falling from a circlet of sweet peas. Her bouquet consisted of pink tulips, stock and maidenhair and asparagus fern. Mr Norman Milne, of Dunedin, brother of the bridegroom, assisted as best man. Messrs L. S. Milne and Alan Barber acted as ushers. During the signing of the register Mrs McDonald rendered a solo. After the wedding the guests adjourned to "Tirohanga," where the nuptial feast was held, the guests being received by Mrs Barber, the bride's mother, who wore a navy edge-to-edge coat with a hat to tone and shoulder spray of anemones and freesias She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, Mrs Milne, who was attired in a navy tailored costume with skunk fur and hat to match. Her shoulder spray was of carnations, hyacinths and maidenhair fern. In the evening a 'dance was held in the Nugget Bay Hall. Mr and Mrs Milne s future home will be at Waitane, Mataura. Mee—Mathias The East Taieri Presbyterian Church was the scene of a pretty wedding on the evening of September 20, when Edward Henry, second son of the late Mr and Mrs H. J. Mee (Fairfield) was married to Ida Winifred, twin daughter of Mr and Mrs D. Mathias. of Alexandra. The Rev. Mr Read performed the ceremony, while Mr Mcßride presided at the organ The bride made a lovely picture in a trained gown of ivory satin beaute shirred to the waistline The lace medallions on the bodice and sleeves were repeated from the waist to the hem of the train. An embroidered veil with a nleated halo was finished with a spray of orange blossom. A bouquet of lilies, frpesias and maidenhair fern was carried. In attenda"<-« were two bridesmaids. Miss Netta Struthers and Miss Mavis Powell (n->"P of the bride) who wore attractive frocks of pink ninon and matching -'-wilder veils and carried bouquets of pink tulips The bridegroom was attended by his brother. Mr Allan Mee, as best man. and Mr George Mathias (twin brother of the bride) acted as groomsman. Mr Alfred Johnson acted as usher. Later at the Oddfellows' Hall the guests were received by the brides mother, who.was wearing a navy figured silk frock with navy coat and hat. and a fur stole. Her bouquet was of hyacinths and stocks The bridegroom's sister. Mrs Bennett, assisted her. attired in a striped silk frock, fur coat and hat to tone, with dress sprav of tulips and fern. Later in the evening a dance was held When the happy couple left for the north by the express the following day the bride was wearing „ tailored navy costume and a fur stole (the gift of the bridegroom) Mr and Mrs Mee's future home is at Abbotsford. Carroll—Curtis The marriage took place at St. Joseph's Cathedra' on Saturday last of Redmond Moreau second son of Mr and Mrs J. Carroll and Edna Winifred younger daughter of Mrs P. W. Curtis and the late Mr Curtis. The Rev Father Gaven was the officiating clergyman, and Miss L. Comer presided at he organ. The bride, escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr E. S Jeavons, made an attractive picture in a mode] frock of Pacific blue' silk romaine, with navy accessories and she carried a posy of spring flowers.

The matron oi' honour, Mrs John Dick, wore. a becoming frock of grey Panama cloth, with navy accessories, and carried a posy of pink hyacinths and carnations. The bridegroom was attended by Mr J. K. Dolan. Mr Charles Carroll was the usher. Later, in the Vedic Lounge, the guests were received by Mrs P. W. Curtis, assisted bv Mrs J. Carroll.
