AUCKLAND MOVEMENT AMENDED CONSTITUTIOM PLANNED (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 17. The committee of the National Service Movement decided this morning to appoint a sub-committee to draft an amended constitution for submission to the General Committee and members. The committee received with satisfaction the statement by the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) that the Government was satisfied that the main object of the movement—a united nation under the direction of a truly representative Government —was bona fide. The committee says the statement has completely removed the impression that the movement.has been inspired by party motives. CANCELLED MEETING MINISTER APPRECIATIVE (Peb United Press Association) WELLINGTON; June 17, “I have heard that the organisation has cancelled its meeting, and I am very glad of the co-operative spirit shown by it," said the Attorney-gene-ral (Mr H. G. R. Mason) after advice had been received from Auckland that the National Service Movement had agreed not to hold its proposed meeting. “The action is consistent with what I felt was the essential desire of the executive of the organisation, even if it did not, in, my opinion, realise the possibilities of dangerous developments. I am appreciative of the spirit shown, and am sure that on reflection members will find themselves able to make such adjustments to their organisation as to eliminate apprehension of dangerous developments.”
