MUNICIPAL LANE

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —“Municipal Lane” is something of a mouthful, 'and half the people will be pronouncing “Municipal ” wrongly in the view of the other half. As on one side of the Town Hall the name of a benefactor (Mr William Harrop) is commemorated, why not commemorate on the other side the nr me of another benefactor (Mr A.' S. Paterson)? Better still, if a name must be given in and date from these most momentous days, why should it not bear some relation to what is occupying the thoughts of everybody? Let us not neglect the opportunity of acknowledging our debt to France, which heroic country is fighting to the death for our very existence. What the name should be I leave to French scholars. —I em, etc., June 15. Dunkirk.
