UTMOST FOR ALLIES

NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES BATAVIA. June 35. (Received June 16, at 9.30 p.m.) Parliament conferred wide powers on the Governor-General (Dr A. W. L. van Starkenborch Stachouwar) for the preservation of the integrity of the Netherlands Indies. Dr Stachouwar said he was doing his utmost to aid the Allies without infringing the interests of America and Japan. Holland’s capitulation resulted in a _ reduction in Dutch East Indies exports of 25 per cent., which is expected to be counterbalanced by an increased demand from the Allies. America, and Japan.
