LOYAL ORANGE CONFERENCE
FREE LOAN TO GOVERNMENT SYMPATHY WITH MR SAVAGE (Per United Press'Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 24. The thirty-third annual conference of the Loyal Orange Institution of New Zealand was opened at Christchurch on Saturday. It was decided to make a £6OO loan, free of interest, to the Government for the. duration of the war and six months afterwards. Reference was made to the Prime Minister’s illness and the conference resolved to forward a telegram to the Acting Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) expressing the sympathy of the Grand Lodge with Mr Savage, and wishing him a speedy recovery.
