NEW ZEALANDERS COMMISSIONED (From Our Own Correspondent) LONDON, Mar. 1,. Seventeen New Zealanders, all o* whom arrived at the same time, have been granted short service commissions as pilot officers for five years on the active list (January 17). They are:— M. E. F. Barnett. E. V. Best, E. C. J. Cameron, F. H. Denton, J. Duigan, D. V. Gilmore, A. G. L. Humphreys, L. D. Loasby, D. H; McArthur, M. H. MacFarlane, J. E. S. Morton, H. A. Outram, G. N. Parker. C. A. Pownall, D. M. Rolph-Smith. R. C. E. Scott, and J; S. Shorthouse.
The following pilot officers on probation are confirmed in their appointments. all dated January 23:—G. W. Ashby, R. E. Bary, L. W. Bennett, F. H. Craig, J. R. Garner, C. F. Gray, H, P. Hill, J. R. Kemp, S. C. Ladyman and T. C. McGillivray. Dr N. K. B, Kimbell, M. 8.. Ch.B., M.R.C.O.G. (Lower Hutt), has been granted a commission in the medical branch of the Royal Air Force for the duration of hostilities as flying officer (January 30). Mr L. Fairfax, M.C., late captain, New Zealand Military Forces, has been gazetted second lieutenant (without pay and allowances), Royal Array Service Corps (February 18).
