TRINITY METHODIST CHURCH
SEVENTY-SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY SERVICES The seventy-seventh anniversary of the Trinity Methodist Church was celebrated on Sunday. At the morning service the Rev. Dr S. F. Hunter delivered a scholarly discourse on the history, witness, functions and programme of the Christian Church. In the evening, the minister of Trinity Church, the Rev. B. Metson, took as his theme: “The Church Which Ought to Be,” basing his subject upon the words of Christ as found in John x. 16. The hymns, lessons and prayers throughout the day were appropriate to the occasion. ' , . After the evening sermon, the choir of 40 voices, uhder the baton of Mr Harold Wilson (choirmaster), rendered Haydn’s oratorio “The Creation.” The work of the soloists, exacting as it is, was performed with skill and understanding bv Miss Doris Wilson (soprano), Mr Lionel Powell (tenor), and Mr Ernest 'Short (baritone). The several choruses were tunefully presented by a well-balanced choir, which maintained fully its high standard as a church choral unit: Miss E. Hartley (organist) contributed greatly to the success of the anniversary services. The anniversary, celebrations were continued last evening, when a thanksgiving reunion was held in Trinity l Schoolroom.
