WEST COAST LANDS
CLEARING AND DRAINAGE WORK TOUR BY MINISTERS (Per United Press Association i WESTPORT. Oct. 29. The Minister of Public Works (Mr R. Semple) and the Minister of Labour (Mr P. C. Webb), who have been making an extensive tour of the Duller district, including a survey of the land clearing and drainage work in the Duller Valley, paid a visit to Denniston and Durnett’s Face yesterday. They attended a meeting of farmers last evening, when the question of the better use of machinery was discussed, particularly the financial side so far as it affected farmers, who wanted their land cleared, drained and cultivated. To-day the Ministers will make a tour of Karamea and to-morrow they will inspect the Pakihi lands under treatment and cultivation. In the afternoon they will attend the Technical High School sports. The buller farmers are very appreciative of the work done in bringing land that was hitherto almost useless into a state of production.
