TRAMWAYS EMPLOYEES
SICK AND ACCIDENT SOCIETY The twenty-fourth annual general meeting of the Dunedin City Corporation Tramway Employees’ Sick and Accident Society was presided over by the president, Mr P. J. Munn. Presenting its report, the committee regretted having to record the deaths of four members—Messrs J. Gallie, W. Smith, P. Ombler and D. Campbell; also the wives of Messrs H Jackson, J. Clark A Reekie and M McLeod. The year commenced with 392 and closed with 372 members. Nineteen members have left the service and four members have died, three new members have joined. The year was commenced with a cash balance of £271 14s 5d and there is now a balance of £3OO 19s lOd, an increase of £29 5s 5d for the year. One hundred and fifty members participated in the benefits, 113 for sickness and 37 for accidents the total expense being £439 Is 8d Funeral allowances totalled £9O, and wreaths cost £l6 10s 6d. Contributions averaged £l9 3s per fortnight and sick and accident pay £l6 18s per fortnight The highest sick pay in any fortnight was £3O 9s 2d, The total amounts now paid out since the inception of the society in 1915 is as follows;—Sick pay, £7606 3s 3d; funeral allowances £BB7 10s; total, £8493 13s 3d. Visiting stewards paid 327 visits. To those members who were enlist ing for active service the best wishes were extended for a safe and speeds return . The election of officers resulted as follows:— President Mr P, J. Munn: vice-president. Mr A. D. Scott; treasurer. Mr H E. Lyon; secretary Mi G. W Hill, trustees, Messrs J Read and A. Webster: auditors, Messrs W Blair and C. Gray; Roslyn steward Mr H Frame: Kaikorai. Mr W. Miller committee—Messrs J. Hollick, H Campbell, J Steel, W. Smith, E. Agnew C. Belworthy. A. Webster, S. Coulter, A. Smithson.
