BALCLUTHA Sports Clubs Balclutha Cricket Club held a very successful opening on Saturday, when fully 40 players participated In a game between teams captained by the president (P. McGregor) and the captain (A. K. Baxter). Equally successful openings were neld by the local tennis and croquet clubs, whose memberships seemed tc be stronger this season than previously. First Aid Demonstration A first aid refresher course for South Otago divisions of the St. John Ambulance Society was held on Sunday afternoon in the grounds of the Balclutha Football Club's new clubhouse Superintendent E. The demonstration course was comprised of bandaging, splinting, and resuscitation, and was entered into with great zest by all concerned At the close Mr C. J. Angling Good fishing was experienced by a party of five Balclutha rods in the Catllns River at the week-end, the combined basket for the day aggregating 70 trout.
