MOTOR FATALITY

COLLISION WITH STATIONARY CAR WOMAN PASSENGER KILLED FIVE OTHERS INJURED (’Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 15. A woman was killed and five persons were injured, when a motor car struck a stationary car head-on on the Main South road near Norwood, about 22 miles from Christchurch, about 8 o’clock to-night. The victims were: — DEAD Mrs Johnston, wife of Mr R. H. Johnston, of Dunsandel, who died on the way to hospital. INJURED Mr R. H. Johnston, husband of Mrs Johnston. Mrs James Thompson, Christchurch. John Thompson, aged four. Mrs Cummips. Barry Cummins, aged four. All are suffering from head injuries. It appears that the car containing the last-named four persons was jacked up for repairs when it was struck by the other car containing Mr Johnston and his wife. Mr Thompson and Mr Cummins, husbands of the two injured women, were on the road repairing the car and were not touched in the impact.
