A COLD WEEK-END
HAILSTORMS IN AUCKLAND (Per United Press Association; AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. One of the most bitter week-ends experienced in Auckland province this winter was marked by frequent hailstorms, heavy showers, and strong gusts of wind. Snow fell on the Waitakeres and in the southern parts of the province, and an exceptionally heavy fall at Taupo blocked the Napier road. Conditions were more severe today than on Saturday, when there were a few falls of hail, but not of very great intensity. Several of the hailstorms in the city to-day were so heavy that the hailstones lay on the ground for lengthy periods.
