FORECAST FOR OTAGO CONDITIONS COLD AND CHANGEABLE The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 4 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— • Strong south-westerly winds. Weather continuing cold and changeable, with passing showers of rain or snow. Seas rough. DOMINION FORECAST SNOW IN OTAGO PROBABLE The following is the official weather forecast for the Dominion:— Pressure is low to the east and high to the west, and barometers over the Dominion are rising unsteadily. Indications are for: — Winds.—Moderate to strong southwesterly. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rough on the west coast of the North Island and in the far south: elsewhere'moderate, but rough off shore. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong south-westerly winds, reaching gale force at times; seas rough to very rough. Weather.—For the most part fair in eastern districts from Canterbury northwards; elsewhere changeable and showery, with hail or snow at times in the ranges, and also in Otago and Southland; temperatures continuing cold. WEATHER IN DUNEDIH shone brightly on Saturday for' over eight hours, but there was a very cold breeze from the south-west and the temperature did not rise above 41deg. Flurries of snow fell in Duriedin yesterday morning, and a cold wind from the south was experienced throughout the day. At about 10 o'clock last night snow began to fall heavily, and the city was thickly coated by midnight. The maximum temperature was only 40deg, and the barometer showed a rising tendency at 29.20 in at midnight.
