MINISTER AT CARACAS
MR D. ST. CLAIR GAINER THE KING'S APPROVAL (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Aug. 10. (Received Aug. 11, at 7 p.m.) The King has approved the appointment of Mr D. St. Clair Gainer, formerly British Consul-General at Vienna, to be his Majesty’s envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary at Caracas, succeeding Mr Ernest Gye, who will shortly retire. Mr Gainer was the British ConsulGeneral at Munich until last summer. The Nazi Government recently procured his removal from Vienna in circumstances suggesting retaliation for the expulsion bv Britain of the German Consul at Liverpool.
