Lancaster—Barrett . St. John’s Church. Milton, was the scene of a pretty wedding on July 29. when James, second eldest son of Mrs Lancaster, of Kaitangata. and Noeline. eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Barrett, of Milton were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, the ceremony being performed in the presence of & large number of guests bv the Rev. A. J. T. Fraser. The bride who entered the church with her father, made a pretty picture in a long-sleeved gown of ivory satin with shirring and silver trimmings at the bodice front. The long embroidered veil was held in place with a spray of orange blossom, and the bride carried a sheaf of arum lilies. . ... Miss Florrie Barrett, the, brides sister, attended as bridesmaid in a shell-pink frock of embossed suedeline made on similar lines to that of the bride, but having cilver flowers at the neckline and full sleeves. The ends of a wide sash fell almost to the hemline. A pink coronet was worn, and the beautiful bouauet was of mauve anemones and maidenhair fern. Miss Betty Barrett, as flower girl, was gowned in a full-length net frock with frills at the hem and a sash. She carried a spray of anemones. Mr R. The future home of Mr and Mrs Lancaster will be at Kaitangata. Smith—Mears A pretty wedding was solemnised recently in the Presbyterian Church at Waitati between Robert, son of Mr and Mrs J. Smith, of Waitati, and Effie, second daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Mears, also of Waitati. The officiating minister was the Rev. Mr Dunn.. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a bridal gown of ivory satin inset with lace. From the waist fell a graceful train, also inset with lace. Her handembroidered veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom. To complete her ensemble, the bride earned a shower bouauet of narcissi freesias, and lilies. Miss Rita Mellon, of Ravensbourne, who acted as bridesmaid, wore a becoming frock of green net over satin, with tiny gold buttons down the front to the waist, She carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. The two flower girls were Misses Erma Prattley (who wore lavender net trimmed with lemon velvet) and Dell Prattley, niece of the bride (who wore lemon net trimmed with lavender ribbon). The bridegroom was attended by Mr J. Simmonds. A reception was held in the “ Saratoga.” where the guests were received by the mother of the bride and by Mrs Lamb (sister of the bridegroom) A basin of cold water to which the juice of a lemon has been added will clean a sponge.
