WAGES IN BRITAIN OFFER OF AN INCREASE LONDON, Aug. 10. Thes conference of the companies and the locomotive engineers was adjourned to enable the union tomorrow to consider the offer to increase the minimum wage of 45s to 50s a week. The strike threat meanwhile is in abeyance.
