POSITION IN PALESTINE
GRADUAL IMPROVEMENT SPORADIC TERRORIST ACTS (British Official Wireless) RUGBY. Aug. 8. (Received Aug. 9, at 6.30 p.m.) News from Palestine to-day indicates a gradual but marked improvement in conditions. The High Commissioner is taking leave and will be absent from Palestine for two months. • He toured the Beersheba sub-district last week-end. Authority has been given for the resumption of 37 more Arab bus routes, mainly in the south. Sooradic terrorist acts continue. A land mine exploded yesterday under a truck, seriously injuring the driver. . Satisfactory progress is being made in the informal discussions between the economic adviser to the Palestine Government and citrus oroducers and it is hoped that before the end of the present export season detailed proposals for more orderly handling of shipments of citrus crops through a control board with statutory powers and functions will have been formulated.
