TO FRANCE AND BACK
BOMBING SQUADRONS FLIGHT WITHOUT MISHAP LONDON, July 19. Five squadrons of Wellington bombers flew to Marseilles and back, a distance of 1500 miles, at a speed of 180 miles an hour. Others made a three-hour flight to Chartres and back. French anti-aircraft crews manned the defences. All returned at nightfall without mishap. FURTHER PRACTICE FLIGHTS (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, July 19. In the House of Commons, Sir Kingsley Wood (Minister of Air) was asked whether it was proposed to arrange RA.F. practice flights over Poland, Turkey, Rumania, and other countries. He replied that he hoped it would be possible to arrange for practice flights in addition to those over France.
