DUNEDIN FREE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION

COUNCIL MEMBERS “AT HOME ” Approximately 300 guests, including mothers, council members, and friends, attended a party given in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Wednesday evening to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association. Mrs R. A. Ewing, who wore a beautiful frock of black lace printed in red, pink, and green, welcomed the mothers, and spoke in appreciation of their cooperation in the work the association was doing,. Mrs Alldred replying on behalf of the mothers. The Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) congratulated the association on its completion of 50 years of invaluable service to the community. ~ .... A brief outline of the associations activities was given by the president, after which the following programme was presented:— . „ Group of Kindergarten songs, staff; song, Mr Lex Macdonald: item, exKindergarten pupils (leader, Miss Molly Johnston, of the R. S. Reynolds Kindergarten); nursery rhyme dramatisation, sung by Kaikorai and St. Kilda mothers, and acted by NorthEast Valley and Kelsey-Yaralla mothers; nigger minstrels, Hudspn memorial and R. S. Reynolds mothers; song. ex-Kindergarten pupil, Miss Noelene Johnson, of the Hudson Memorial Kindergarten. At the conclusion of the programme Mr W. B. Taverner, a member of the Advisory Board, thanked the performers for a delightful entertainment, the mothers’ share in which,had been particularly clever and amusing.
