CAPTURED IN WAREHOUSE TWO MEN COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE ‘Special to Daily Times) WELLINGTON. June 7. The police surrounding a warehouse in Ghuznee street, Wellington, early on the morning of May 26, led to the appearance in the Magistrate’s Court today of Gordon Thomas Wilkie, a mechanic, aged 40 and Charles Raoul Francis Gawn. a labourer, aged 21. They were jointly charged with breaking and entering the warehouse of Winstones. Ltd., with intent to commit theft. The accused pleaded guilty and were committed by Mr J. L. Stout. S.M. to the Supreme Court for sentence. Detective Sergeant W. McLennan prosecuted Constable E J While said he was one of the party of. police under Sergeant A, C. Davis who went to the premises of Winstones. Ltd., at 0.30 a.m. on May 26. He heard a noise on the roof of a shed, and subsequently arrested Wilkie, who was wearing rubber gloves _ ... Evidence of finding Gawn hiding m a boK in the warehouse yard was given by Constable A. E. Thrush. Gawn admitted that two tyre levers discovered near the box were his property, and had been used for breaking into the warehouse. Gawn was also wearing gloves when arrested.
