Ministerial The Minister of Agriculture and Acting-Minister of Marketing (Mr W. Lee Martin) arrived in Dunedin from the north yesterday afternoon accompanied by his private secretary (Mr W. R. King), and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Last night the Minister attended the social gathering in connection with the Farmers’ Union conference, and to-day he will be present at the annual conference of the South Island Dairy Association. He will leave on his return to Wellington to-morrow.

The Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) left by air for Wellington yesterday to attend meetings of the Centennial Executive and the Municipal Association Executive. Cameron, president of the Otago and Southland District Pig Council, left for Wellington by yesterday morning’s express, to attend the annual meeting of the National Pig Council of New Zealand. Mr W. P. Rollings and Mr Justice Smith were elected to the Victoria University College Council (says a Frees Association telegram from Wellington) representing the Court of Convocation (graduates) as the result of a poll held on Tuesday. They will hold office for two years. The election resulted: Mr W. P. Rollimgs 702, Mr Justice Smith 470, Dr Agnes Bennett 419, Mr P. Levi 223.

At the meeting of the Dunedin South Licensing Committee yesterday reference was made to the fact that, owing to a change in the boundaries of the district, Messrs J. J. Marlow, A. D. Edgar and E. Longworth had been rendered ineligible for seats an the committee, and a resolution was passed expressing appreciation of the long record of service of these three ex-members and regret llhat they were no longer able to sit on the committee.
