EYES ON INDIA

GERMAN TRADE DRIVE BARTER PROPOSALS BERLIN, May 30. Many press articles reveal that Germany intends to launch a powerful trade drive on the Indian market, particularly where Britain has voluntarily given up her preferential position to benefit native industry. One widely syndicated article states: “ Now that British preference is being dropped on 96 classifications, the German exporter will be able to compete on an equal basis with the British.

“It should not be forgotten that many Indians are ready to give preference to foreign goods for personal or political reasons.”

The article urges German manufacture, s to increase their efforts in India and to encourage “an exchange of German manufactures for such Indian products as are practically unsaleable in Britain, but which -re of great interest to us.” The economic periodical World Economic Archives outlines plans for increasing the German motor trade in India.
