SUEZ CANAL COMPANY
THE ANNUAL MEETING ITALIAN DEMANDS REJECTED PARIS, June 5. The chairman, Marquis Devogue. speaking at the Suez Company's annual meeting, vigorously retorted to the Italian claims, to which he said, " We will not change our policy and will continue deaf to unjust criticisms and empty threats. Italy is endeavouring to secure additional seats and reduction of dues, pending replacement of the company by an international commission. She has revived methods of barbarism and launched a crusade of inaccuracies with regard to facts and has made errors in dates and figures in an attempt to contest our rights and doubt our integrity." He added that England and France would continue to defend their rights most firmly. , The board unanimously rejected " for the time being " the Italian demands for' representation on the management.
