STABBING OF DRIVER

TAXI CAB ASSAULT TWO YOUTHS ARRESTED <Peh United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 8. Two youths, both 17 years of age, were arrested by detectives at Takapuna this afternoon in connection with the assault and stabbing of an Auckland taxi : driver, Mr W. G. Styants, while he was driving two passengers along the Old Lake road, Narrow Neck, at 8.45 p.m. last Friday. They will appear before the magistrate to-morrow.

Thirty stitches had to be inserted in the stab wounds in the taxidriver's back and neck by a doctor in the Auckland Hospital whence the injured man was, taken as soon as detectives had interviewed him. He has left the hospital.
