NATIONAL REGISTER OPPOSITION FROM LABOUR MELBOURNE, June 6. The secretary of the Emergency Committee of the Australasian Council of Trades Unions stated that the Trades and Labour Councils of all States had adopted the Australasian Council of Trades Union's policy against the national register. EXPORT OF LIVE KOALAS A BAN SUGGESTED SYDNEY, June 0. The president of the Koala Club of Australia (Mr O. D. Oberg) said that the club had asked the Minister of Customs to forbid the export of live koalas from Australia to New Zealand for the Wellington Centennial Exhibition next year. Mr Oberg said: " It is our duty to save what few koalas remain in Australia and ensure continuance of the species rather than exploit them for exhibition purposes." CENSUS WEALTH MEMBER'S REQUEST REFUSED CANBERRA, June 6. (Received June 7, at 1.15 a.m.) The Federal Government to-day refused a request by Mr W. M. Nairn, member for Western Australia, that the national register should include a census of private wealth. The Government claims that such a census would be out of date almost as soon as it was tabulated; secondly, it might give rise to fear of a capital levy, which is not intended; thirdly, it would seriously affect the Government's efforts to attract capital for the expansion of secondary industries. . The Trades Union campaign in New South Wales against the national register will be launched in Sydney on June 14.
