Reid is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), area 12; dated April 5, 1939. Major (Quartermaster) W Connor. E.D.. is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank, and wear the prescribed uniform; dated April 14, 1939, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own) .—Lieutenant H. R. OTAGO DIVISION. R.N.V.R. Weekly Training

The following training was continued 'at the divisional headquarters on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights of last week:— . . Monday.—Service .22 rifle firing practices. Voluntary instruction seamanship, visual and wireless signalling. . , - „ Tuesday.— Official training for all visual signalling and junior wireless TcitinßS* Wednesday.—Official training for all seamen and senior wireless ratings. Saturday.—Boat-pulling and boatsailing was exercised in both whalers during the afternoon. The attendances were good on each occasion, ana classes proceeded to instruction as under: — „ Seamanship.—All seamen ratings were taken to instruction in compass and wheel for the first half of the training session, and to principles of steering apparatus during the second half. Minesweeping.—All minesweeping ratings wero taken to a continuation of the lectures embodying minesweeping, minelaying, and floating mine construction. Gunnery.—Ail acting gunlayers were taken to small-arm exercises as laid down in the Royal Naval Handbooks for Field Training. . Signals.—All signal ratings continued practices in practical signalling by semaphore, flashing lamp, and instruction in the use of code books. Wireless.—Senior wireless ratings continued practical W/T communication exercises with the naval W/T station at Wellington and other R.N.V.R. W/T stations. Junior ratings continued practice in reading Morse and in elementary principles of naval W/T procedure. Next Training , The training nights and syllabus already in operation will be continued as for last week until the end of this month, when the training syllabus will be rotated for the second quarter of the training year. Recruiting^ The Recruiting Board of Officers, Otago Division, R.N.V.R., will interview applicants to join who have been notified to attend at the divisional headquarters at 7.30 p.m. to-day. Small-here Rifle Shooting Match The first of the annual small-bore rifle shooting matches between teams from the Ex-Imperial Men’s Association and Otago Division, R.N.V.R., will take place at the divisional headquarters, commencing 7.30 p.m. on Monday.
