LABOUR FOR INDUSTRY
A SHORTAGE IN GERMANY LONGER HOURS PROBABLE BERLIN, Feb. 9. Germany's need for more labour for industry is dealt with in an official report, in which there is a hint of longer hours and harder work. Last year's new sources included 150,000 persons, who were combed from the unemployed, and 670,000 mobilised from domestic employees and pensioners. Despite this, it is estimated that there will be a deficiency of 1,000,000 workers in 1939, for which rationalisation and the more intense use of existing labour wills be necessitated.
