The Canterbury team to challenge Auckland for the Anthony Wilding Memorial Shield at Auckland on Thursday and Friday of next week will be A. D. Brown, C. Angas. A. R. Cant and R. G. Pattinson. The Doubles pairings have not been finally decided, but they will probably be Angas and Pattinson. and Brown and Cant. Canterbury’s chances of regaining the trophy, which were formerly regarded most optimistically, have declined since the New Zealand championships, in which most of the Canterbury players performed disappointingly. The team has been weakened, too. by H. A. Barnett, runner-up in the Dominion Singles, and H. Dymond. Canterbury’s third ranking player, not being available. It is not yet known whether A. C Sr.edman. the New Zealand Davis Cup player, who r-turned to New Zealand from Europe last year, will be available for the Auckland team He has had little serious play this season. The Auckland team is likely to consist of J T. Mayson, J. W. Gunn, N. F. Bedford and N. G. Sturt, and as Bedford and Gunn hold the national Doubles title, the team should be strong in both Singles and Doubles
