MAY SEE MELBOURNE CUP REQUEST FROM AUSTRALIA LONDON, Jan. 9. In response to requests from Australia, the Duke and Duchess of Kent are endeavouring to rearrange their plans to enable their arrival in time for the Melbourne Cup. It is almost certain that they will go to New Zealand for the centenary. It is announced on the Duke’s behalf that he feels he should go - to Canberra for the swearin‘g-in ceremony immediately he arrives. After that he will formally visit Melbourne and Sydney before settling down to routine work.
