DOCTORS ALARMED

NON-PAYING, PATIENTS SHELTERING UNDER SECURITY ACT SUGGESTION OF BLACK LIST (Per United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 10. Alarmed because patients have ceased to pay bills because of the Social Security Act. it is understood that several New Plymouth doctors may black list those patients and refuse to take them on their panels. A prominent New Plymouth doctor said, “ Many people who could well afford to pay bills are not doing so. Some actually hinted that they thought it would not matter after the Act was in operation. Were it a case of people not bting in a position to meet their accounts when due, every consideration would be given to them.” Asked if there was any suggestion of a Dominion-wide boycott of nonpaying patients, the doctor said he could not say, but he understood that similar difficulty was being experienced elsewhere.
