ELLERSLIE TRACK
RECRUITS TO HURDLING Interest at Eller&lie on Saturday morning was centred in the schooling tasks of several novices (says the Herald). Love in Idleness (Gough) cleared two of the pony hurdles satisfactorily. She has done a fair amount of schooling lately and is making fair progress. For a beginner Electric Spear (Baker) pleased by negotiating several pony hurdles in proficient style. As he has plenty of size and gallops well he is likely to make good at. this department.
Galloping Acre (O'Connor) went witn plenty of confidence in a bout over tour pony hurdles and appears to have natural ability. He is a smart galloper in private, but has raced disappointingly of late and his connections have decided on a course of schooling in the hope that it will make him solid. Although he got too close to the first two. Windcress (O’Connor) gave a fast and clever display over four of the big hurdles. Now in W. Kirk S stable, Windcress has not been up a great length of lime, but he gives pro; mise of turning out useful. He win probably have his first start over hurdles at the Thames meeting Erination was returned last week to his owner, J. H. Greenhead. at Rotorua, where he is to enjoy a welldeserved spell. During the last 18 months Erination has started 24 times his earnings amounting to £2830 The former Te Aroha trainer H. Eva has taken permanent quarters at ElIcrslie. His team at present consists of Galloping Acre. Huntingmore and a two-year-old by Vaals. Noitaro, who was also under Eva’s charge, was given a let-up after racing at Taranaki over the holidays.
