A CENTURY'S WAR
JAPAN ON THE THRESHOLD RENOVATION OF THE WORLD STAFF OFFICER’S IDEA (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) TOKIO, Jan. 7. (Received Jan. 8, at 11 p.m.) ' The country is stirred by an article in the Nichi Shimbun, by Lieutenant-general Tatsuhiko Takashima, of the Army General Staff, in which he declares Japan is on the threshold of a century’s war to attain renovation of the world in accordance with the Japanese way. It must be remembered that reconstruction of East Asia and the renaissance of Asia mean the creation of a new world, by transforming the muddled modern world. Westerners accomplished domination by colonial aggression in the Far East. Settlement of the China question must inevitably result in an epoch-making transformation of the world, for which Japan is concentrating her entire national resources. She is the only country by history and actualities that is capable of delivering the world from abject misery. The Italian, German, and Japanese joint front gives strong impetus to it. Japan is destined to be the chief axis.”
