WEDDING
Mooney—Pearse On the evening of November 9. at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Waikaia, Southland, the marriage was solemnised of Kevin Hugh, youngest son of Mrs Mooney, of Cromwell, and the late Mr John Mooney, and Lucy Irma, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. E Pearse, late of Waitati. The Rev. W W. Powell, of Gore, performed the ceremony, and Mrs R. Edwards, of Waikaia, played the nuptial music. The church had been beautifully decorated by a friend of the bride with pink and white hawthorn blossom. The bride, who entered the church with her father, made an attractive picture in a gown of ivory embossed satin, the bodice being draped in front and finished, like the long sleeves, with a row of buttons. The skirt featured a graceful train. The silk-embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and a sheaf of lilies, white stock, freesias. and maidenhair fern was carried.
Attending her sister as bridesmaid, Miss Elaine Pearse wore rich gold beaute satin. The gown followed princess lines and had short frilled sleeves. A pleated silk tulle cap trimmed with lavender velvet flowers was worn. The shower bouquet was of lavender irises, stock and maidenhair fern, tied with long gold streamers. Mr C. Brain, of Oamaru. was best man.
After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the Commercial Hotel, where the reception was held. Mrs Pearse, assisted by the bridegroom's sister, Mrs R. Gleeson, of Oamaru, received the guests. The former wore a model gown of green beaute satin with a handsome gold ornament, and a brown toque and fur coat. Mrs Gleeson was attired in a navy blue costume, with hat and accessories to tone. For travelling, the bride chose a model navy beaute satin gown, a navy coat and hat, and white accessories. Mr and Mrs K. H. Mooney will make their home at Belfast, Christchurch.
