MUSEUM OF MUSIC
AN AUSTRALIAN PROJECT MR PERCY GRAINGER'S ENTERPRISE (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, Dec. 26. Progress with his project for creating in Australia a museum of music on entirely new lines and with a new object and outlook was described by Mr Percy Grainger, the celebrated Australian pianist and composer, who, with his wife, arrived bv the Aorangi on his way to make a concert tour in the United States. Since his return to the Commonwealth in August Mr Grainger has been working 15 h.ours a day in the museum, portion of which has now been opened. The museum would show the achievements of music of the Eng-lish-sneaking countries from the thirteenth century to the present day, Mr Grainger said. Although it was not generally realised, English music had been a leading factor in European music in many ways and for many centuries. Mr Grainger will spend four months giving concerts in the United States and will then probably proceed to England, Finland and Sweden. He will make a further concert tour in America before returning to Australia in 18 months time.
