DRIFT IN INDUSTRY
PROBLEM FOR GERMANY LACK OF RAW MATERIALS DR FUNK'S NEW DUTIES (United Press Assoelatljnj <By Electric Telegraph -Copyright) BERLIN, Dec. 22. A virtual economic dictatorship has been entrusted to Dr Funk in an endeavour to check the rapid drift and paralysis of industry resulting from the acute labour shortage and lack of raw materials. His duties now cover the Ministries of Labour Supply and Economics. Under the new arrangements, whereby trade and production are nationalised and unified, all resources are pooled, and Dr Funk is empowered to divert any proportion of these in favour of a single producer in an industry needing support. He will also control the distribution of labour and raw materials. Though not State-owned, German undertakings will be bound hand and foot by the Government's policy. Dr Funk will be initially concerned with practical administration of the four-year plan, while Fieldmarshal Goering is evolving basic principles for an economic readjustment.
