MANCHESTER UNITY

In anticipation of the installation of officers on December 17, a summoned meeting was held by the Loyal Cromwell Lodge a few days before. N.G. Bro. G. Bell presided and routine business was dealt with. Nominations were received for officers for the ensuing term and arrangements made for a visit to Loyal Upper Clutha Lodge. Loyal Hand and Heart.met on December 13. N.G. Br 6. W. Houliston presided and initiated one new member. The summoned meeting being duly opened, the following brethi-en were elected to office: —N.G., Bro. B. A. Timms; V.G., Bro. W. Thomas; E.S., Bro. J. D. Paterson; warden, Bro, Edwards; guardian, Bro. Cook; I.P.N.G, Bro. W. Hjouliston. The installation was conducted by Prov. G.M. Bro. W. Sellar, assisted by his colleagues on the .executive and visiting officers. Customary business was transacted and the season's greetings exchanged. N.G. Bro. A. Lysaght presided at the meeting of Loyal Centenary and was supported by a full complement of officers. There was a large attendance of visiting officers and brethren. The main item of business was the election and installation of officers. This was conducted as usual by the Prov. G.M., assisted by the I.P.P.G.M. and visiting officers. Brethren elected were—N.G., Bro. E. Bartlett; V.G., Bro. F. Carruthers; E.S., Bro. E. Thomas; warden, Bro. C. Pope; guardian, Bro. W. Davidson; 1.P.N.G., Bro. A. Lysaght'. The season's greetings were exchanged and supper was served. I.P.P.G.M. Bro.' P. W. Stabb conducted the installation ceremony at the summoned meeting of Loyal Mosgiel on Tuesday evening. He was assisted by representatives of Loyal Valley, Caversham, Albion, and Hand and Heart Lodges. These were welcomed by N.G, Bro. S. Walker. The lodge decided to procure a further supply of regalia to complete the set now in use. Members elected to office were:—W.G., Bro. E. C. Lyall, P.G.; V.G., Bro. L. Fairmaid; E.S., Bro. J. Gibson; warden, Bro. H. Wright, P.G.; 1.P.N.G., Bro. S. Walker. Having been installed into office, these brethren returned thanks for their election. Tuesday, December 10, marked the close of the year for Loyal Princess Mary Lodge. N.G. Sister Riddell presided. P.G. Sister McAllan was presented with a crystal vase for services rendered to her lodge. During the evening P.I.G.M. Bro. Gourlay, of North Canterbury district, was welcomed by the N.G. The installation of officers was conducted by the Pro. G.M., assisted by officers of various visiting lodges. Those installed were:— N.G., Sister W. M. Lyon; V.G., Sister Douglas; E.S., Sister O. R. Clarke: warden, Sister Longworth, sen.; guardian, Sister G. Davidson; I.P.N G.. Sister D. Riddell. Members of Loyal Valley, Albion, Dunedin, Hand and Heart, and Addington Lodges responded to the customary toast. Season's greetings were received from a number of district and sister lodges at the meeting of Loyal Caversham Lodge held on Wednesday night. The N.G, Bro. S. Wright, welcomed the Prov. G.M., I.P.P.G.M. and 1'.1.G.M. Bro. Gourlay, of North Canterbury, and other visiting brethren. The officers elected were:—N.G. Bro. V. Parker, P.G.; V.G., Bro. D. H. Strachan; E.S., Bro. N. Allan; warden, Bro. D. Aide; guardian. Bro. F. Graves: 1.P.N.G., Bro. S. Wright. These were obligated by the Prov. G.M. and installed by P.I.G.M. Bro. Gourlay. I.P.P.G.M. Bro. Stab and, visiting officers. An address on Manchester Unity activities was given by Bro. Gourlay. Complimentary reference was made to P.G. Bro. C. Riddell for his attention to the reports of lodge meetings. The final meeting for the year of Loyal Albion was held on Thursday evening. P.G. Bro: T. Penny presided in the absence of N.G. Bro. F. Graveson. Bro. Penny introduced and initiated his brother into Oddfellowship! The routine business of the summoned meeting was transacted and the following brethren elected to office:—N.G., Bro. F. Longworth; V.G., Bro. A. Taylor; E.S., Bro. E. Grant; warden, Bro. E. Poulter: guardian, Bro. Parker;. I.P.N.G. Bro. F. Graveson. Addresses were delivered by the installing officers headed by the Prov. G.M. and his colleagues on the executive, together with P.I.G.M. Bro. Gourlay. of North Canterbury. '
