GROWTH OF PALMERSTON NORTH i*: (Per United Press 'Vssociatjon) PALMERSTON N., Dec. 23. Representing an aggregate value of £221,842. the highest total for many years, 322 building permits were issued by the Palmerston North Cily Council during the year, despite the fact that the shortage of skilled artisans retarded the commencement of several projected works. Compared with £215,315 for 1937. the value of the permits shows an increase of £6527. State houses are not included in the returns, and several big buildings are projected next year.
