“WE MUST ALLOW MR LAW HIS WHIMSIES”

ro THE EDITOR Sir. —I am delighted to see by this morning’s paper that, after graciously granting me the above allowance and complimenting me upon amusing his fellow Catholics, “Avila ” covers his retreat from an honest reply to youi correspondents who are opposed to him by the inky tactics of the cuttle fish. But who are “ we ”? It has been said that there are three estates that are entitled to use the plural pronoun “we.” First, royalty, second, the editor of a newspaper; thirdly, the man with a tape worm. Quite obviously “Avila ” is the man with a tape worm. I present him with this addition to his numerous shares.—l am, etc., John Law. December 22.
